Milestone anniversaries and vow renewals
Vow renewals most often mark the 10th, the 25th and the 50th anniversary. The 25th is traditionally the silver anniversary, and the 50th the golden one.
A renewal is not legally binding, so the couple can choose any officiant, venue and format they like. That freedom shapes the transport plan: a ceremony in a garden, a toast in a revolving restaurant or a day at a winery each needs a different car and a different number of hours.
Planners suggest reserving a vow renewal venue six to nine months out, because the date has to land on or near the anniversary itself. Ask for the cars once the venue confirms.
How big is the party, and who needs a ride?
Renewals usually have smaller guest lists than the original wedding. Planners group them as intimate (under 20 guests), mid-size (20 to 75) or a large celebration (more than 75). Most guests drive themselves; the people who need a car are usually the couple, the oldest relatives and family arriving from out of town.
| Who rides | Riders | Suggested vehicles |
|---|---|---|
| The couple | 2 | Mercedes-Benz S-Class (3); an Executive Sedan (3) also works |
| The couple with a grown child | 3 to 5 | Lincoln Navigator (5) |
| Grandparents and one family | 5 to 6 | GMC Yukon XL (6), Cadillac Escalade (6) or Chevrolet Suburban (6) |
| Several siblings and their families | 7 to 13 | Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (13) |
| A large celebration with a guest shuttle | 14 to 24 | Mini Coach (24), on request |
| A grand entrance for the couple | 2 and up | A partner stretch limousine or SUV limo (request only) |
Getting older guests in and out comfortably
The right car for an older guest is the one each person can get into without strain, and that is a question of seat height and door size more than luxury. Use the table as a starting point, and tell us about any walker, cane or folding wheelchair so we can pick the vehicle together.
| Vehicle | Getting in | Works well for |
|---|---|---|
| Sedan or S-Class | Lowest seat: sit down first, then swing the legs in | Guests who find climbing harder than bending |
| SUV (Escalade, Navigator, Suburban) | A step up to a higher seat | Guests who find a low seat hard to rise from |
| Sprinter | A step up at the side door into a tall cabin | Families who want to ride together and stand up straight inside |
Organizing a surprise for your parents
Milestone surprises are often run by the adult children, coordinating across siblings, including those who live out of state. In one documented case, ten siblings planned a surprise together for their parents’ 45th; in another, a son secretly arranged a full vow renewal for his parents’ 25th with the help of the rest of the family.
The car is often the hidden part of the plan. One sibling books, and everyone else follows the schedule.
- One booker: a single adult holds the reservation and is the chauffeur’s only contact.
- The pretext: the car collects your parents for a reason they will believe, such as a quiet dinner.
- Out-of-town siblings: send flight numbers, and we track each flight and meet them at IAH or Hobby with a name sign.
- Timing: the guests arrive first; the couple’s car is timed to the moment you are ready.
- The paperwork: receipts are emailed, which makes splitting the cost between siblings simpler.
Where Houston couples celebrate
A city dinner may fit a 3-hour block; confirm the pickup, reservation and return times before booking. A winery day outside Houston needs more time for the drive.
| Place | Where | Car plan |
|---|---|---|
| Spindletop | Revolving restaurant on the 34th floor of the Hyatt Regency, 1200 Louisiana St; a full turn every 45 minutes | 3-hour block |
| Rainbow Lodge | 2011 Ella Blvd; a century-old log-cabin-style restaurant on wooded grounds | 3-hour block |
| Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse | A Houston pick for anniversary dinners | 3-hour block |
| Haak Vineyards & Winery | Santa Fe, TX, about an hour from downtown | 5-hour block |
| Messina Hof Winery & Resort | Bryan, TX, about an hour and a half away, with a restaurant and B&B | Quoted by text (over 5 hours) |
